David Booth is a Dublin based visual artist whose primary focus is in painting. In his unique approach to his craft, he deconstructs the notions of portraiture both literally and figuratively. David produces painterly abstract portraits which simultaneously capture highly realistic features of the sitter. With impeccable detail derived from a specific sitter the abstracted portraits are also nonspecific in their portrayal and act as a universal portrait.
In 2019, we had the great pleasure of hosting David’s first solo show in our gallery, titled ‘Typecast’. Showcasing new and old works, David further explored the theme of deconstructed portraiture by producing an array of abstracted portraits as well as physically deconstructing full figure portraits.
